Autumn check for your ventilation system
Why regular maintenance matters
A Nilan ventilation system is built to last – but only if it’s looked after.
Because the unit is often placed out of sight, it can be easy to forget. However, regular maintenance is key to keeping energy consumption low and indoor air quality high. A neglected system may not only underperform but could also break down or use more energy than necessary.
Get your system ready for the colder months
Changing seasons affect how your ventilation system operates. In colder weather, the system works harder – so now is the perfect time to give it a quick check.
Here’s a checklist to help you get started:
✔️ Clear leaves, twigs, and other debris from roof vents to ensure proper airflow
✔️ Vacuum the inside of the unit and wipe surfaces with a damp cloth
✔️ Check that the condensate tray drains freely
✔️ Clean all ceiling vents
Cleaning the vents – without disrupting airflow
Not sure how to clean your vents correctly?
Be careful not to twist the centre of the vent, as this can affect the system’s balance and airflow.
